Months after an unsuccessful bid for West Hollywood City Council, Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has turned his attention to Congress. As Deadline reports, the actor filed papers with the Federal Elections Commission to run for California’s 30th Circuit seat, currently held by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank.
Though she hasn’t announced any plans to step down, Schiff is expected to run for US Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat, opening the door to Savage’s campaign. The actor is a registered Democrat who, although he didn’t win his campaign for city council, does have some political experience: he earned a degree in political science from Stanford, where he served in 2003 for then-US Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) practiced.
As a candidate for city council, Savage cited affordable housing and community safety as a top priority. He was better known in Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000 and in its spinoff Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017.
