Kanye West apparently forged a relationship with alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos ahead of a proposed presidential bid in 2024.
Over the weekend, West paparazzi introduced Yiannopoulos as someone “working on the campaign.” When asked if he was actually running for president, West replied, “Yes… It’s very simple… We are only moving towards the future.”
Though West has increasingly allied himself with right-wing politicians of late, his association with Yiannopoulos is particularly troubling. The former Breitbart author is known for his hateful attitudes towards Islam, feminism and the LGBTQ+ community, as well as his connections to various neo-Nazis and anti-Semites. He was known to have been fired from Brietbart and lost a book deal after a video circulated in which he appeared to be condoning pedophilia. He was also banned from Twitter for harassing female users and banned from entering New Zealand for comments he made after the 2019 Christchurch Mosque massacre.
Yiannopoulos last worked as an intern for Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, but it appears he’s now part of West’s 2024 presidential campaign.
West previously ran for America’s highest political office in 2020, but his campaign was best remembered for a bizarre rally at which he wore a bulletproof vest and broke down crying. Of the 12 states where his name was on the ballot, West received over 60,000 total votes (including one from Tucker Carlson).
Last month, West lost over $1 billion in branded business after a series of anti-Semitic outbursts and saw his radio airplay and streaming numbers plummet. Still, like his good pal Donald Trump, West appears to be under the illusion that hundreds of millions of Americans are ready to vote for him in 2024.
