Nandi Bushell and Shane Hawkins jam together

2 min read

It’s been around six weeks since Wembley Stadium hosted the London repeat of the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, but we haven’t forgotten the star-studded event – and neither has Nandi Bushell. The tween drummer took to Twitter on Wednesday to offer a warm shout-out to another young musical prodigy: Hawkins’ 16-year-old son, Shane.

Bushell spread the love with a minute-long video made up of clips of the duo rocking out together ahead of the tribute concert: “Jamming backstage with Shane at Wembley Stadium is one of my favorite moments,” she wrote in the caption. “Shane is one of the nicest, kindest and most talented people I’ve ever met. He’s so fun to be with and has so much energy.”

The pair rehearse a handful of songs in the video, including the Foo Fighters classic ‘Everlong’ and Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ – both songs feature Dave Grohl on their studio versions. Though the drums seem to be both kids’ instrument of choice, Bushell also flaunts her bass licks while Hawkins shreds the guitar.

Not that we needed further validation, but Shane certainly has to make his dad proud. See Bushell’s post below.

This is just the latest in Bushell’s seemingly never-ending jam session: Just earlier this week, she posted a clip of herself singing along with her little brother, who she said teaches him, to Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In.” the Name” rocks over “all the biggest rock and metal bands”. And earlier this month, she also shared a stunning cover of Eminem’s famously up-tempo track “Rap God.”
