It’s been a hell of a week for Skrillex, who kicked off Sunday with a huge teaser showcasing around a dozen unreleased tracks and more than likely showing off two albums in 2023. Just a few days later he finally released the highly anticipated “Rumble” again with Fred… and Flowdan. In the same breath he announced that another single would be out the next day (yesterday), “Way Back” featuring Pink Pantheress and Trippie Redd.
After listening to the song on his Instagram this week, “Way Back” featuring PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd is now available to the public. With all three artists earning a reputation for exceeding musical expectations in their own genres, it only makes sense that this collaboration would be as eclectic and entertaining as previous work that their fan bases have come to love.
Sonically, it shares some similarities to his collaboration on 100 Gecs’ “Torture Me” in the way the rhythm and vocals are produced. It’s a kind of Drum & Bass means Chiptune with that unique Skrillex flair that you can especially hear in the drums.
