New York City is the country’s literary capital, from the abundance of publishers based there to its vibrant writing culture. It also has some of the largest public libraries in the United States.
We’ve seen a lot of discussions about the best books of the year as well as the bestselling books of the year over the last few months. But what about the most-borrowed books of the year? New York City Libraries have published their lists of top borrowed books for adults, teens, and children in all three systems: Queens, Bronx, and New York City.
Here are the most borrowed adult books from the New York Public Library, including the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island.
This list is predominantly (completely?) by white authors, even though less than half of New York City’s population is white.
