This young adult graphic novel follows three young women living in a shared flat in Japan and their lives together. The judges noted the film’s “remarkable mastery of graphic novel conventions and sensitive exploration of emotionally resonant, evergreen themes of family, friendship and identity.”
This year’s literary judges for young readers were Jerry Craft, Junko Yokota, Alec B. Chunn and Laura Simeon.
